I2I EPP Spotlight: How Dashboards Inform Continuous Improvement

Having served in a variety of roles in the education preparation program (EPP) community, Executive Director of Early Childhood Education and Teaching (ECET) and Alternative Teacher Certification Program (ACTP), Rebecca Saiz of Lone Star College has learned to incorporate the Insight to Impact (I2I) Dashboards into her data routines to assist with the development of continuous improvement plans with EPP program coordinators and administrators.

In the past, Saiz utilized the dashboards during an EPP-wide Data Day, using the data to inform the EPP’s continuous improvement plans following the conclusion of the Data Day. Saiz then developed a cadence of reviewing dashboard data, examining the data in depth three times a year: September, May and July.

The data became instrumental in discovering findings that triggered interventions, specific one-on-one candidate attention and strategic maneuvering to improve programmatic outcomes. One example Saiz highlighted as beneficial was having access to the perception surveys.

“We look at principal surveys that are different from the districts around them,” Saiz said about her previous EPP experience. “This freed up a five-person assessment team in our faculty team to focus more intently on support instead of testing data progress from last year’s past historical analysis. The time saved from pulling reports allows the assessment team to spend more time on how to use the data for training and opening up more conversations regarding continuous improvement.”
