Question: What are the Observation Dashboards?
The Observation Dashboards are an extension to the Insight to Impact suite that enables EPPs to learn more about the observations of their candidates. These dashboards will include an observation entry tool and visualizations, allowing EPP Field Supervisors to enter details about their candidate observations. If EPPs choose to utilize this observation entry tool, all that data will be pushed to ECOS as well as their data visualizations. If EPPs use the observation entry tool, the visualizations will still be available. However, some entries may be limited to what they entered in ECOS. As with everything regarding I2I, the primary purpose of the observation entry tool component and the data visualizations is to support EPPs in their continuous improvement efforts.
Participation in the observation dashboards is voluntary, so no additional submissions to TEA are required.
Question: Why were the Observation Dashboards created?
The I2I Dashboards currently increase access to data, orient for continuous improvement, enable the use of local and state data to support EPPs in understanding their candidates, and reduce their burden of analyzing key candidate data. In addition, the previously released dashboards feature pages dedicated to enrollment, which display who is entering EPP programs, exam data, certification data, and completion data. Those dashboards demonstrate the outcome of candidate preparation, while employment pages show candidates post-preparation.
The new Observation Dashboards display data as candidates are being prepared, address observation collection difficulties, and reduce the analysis burden of users.
Question: How do I access this new dashboard?
The Observation Dashboards will be available in the I2I application in TEAL. Users will be able to request a role depending on their EPP role, allowing them to either enter data, view the dashboards, or both enter and view data. Once available, user instructions will be provided to learn how to access the dashboards and request a new role.
Question: Where can I receive training on how to use the dashboard?
Training materials and live sessions will be made available once the Observation Dashboards are launched. Information about the release of these items will be provided in the EPP Newsletter, while user resources will be posted on the I2I Academy website.
Question: Am I required to enter my observation data into I2I?
No, the system is completely voluntary. The observation entry tool is designed to support EPPs that may benefit from having a centralized location to store candidate observations. The presentation of that entered data through the visualizations is just an added benefit.
Question: If I enter data into the entry data component, do I still have to enter it into ECOS?
No, all data submitted through the observation entry tool will be available to be forwarded to ECOS for reporting purposes, so EPPs don’t have to duplicate submissions. Only data required for reporting will be passed to ECOS.
Question: What are the benefits of using this system?
Data can be entered by a broader range of users (field supervisors), which enables observations to be entered on a more regular basis. The data will also facilitate required reporting and continuous improvement. The data submitted to ECOS automatically populates into the data visualizations for EPPs to dynamically filter and review.
Question: What happens when a field supervisor enters incorrect data?
All data submitted by field supervisors will be reviewed, approved, and promoted by a designated EPP administrator. If the data is incorrect, the observation details can be edited before submitting to ECOS.
Question: Where can I receive help with questions or issues?
For any comments, questions or issues, please submit a ticket to the Help Desk, which will be responded to within 48 hours.
Can I enter informal observations into this dashboard?
Users in the field identified that this functionality would be useful for their EPP. TEA is currently exploring options to incorporate informal observations into the observation entry tool and observation dashboard.
Can I put my own rubric into the tool?
Yes, the system allows an EPP administrator to add rubrics in the observation entry tool using a pre-made template. The system will also include pre-loaded rubrics, such as T-TESS.
How will field supervisors access the place where they input data?
Field supervisors will need to create a TEAL account and request access to a field supervisor for the EPP they are working with. The EPP primary approver will review all request to determine if the individual should be given field supervisor access to the observation entry tool.
