How I2I Informs an EPP’s Big Picture

Dr. Cynthia Savage, Associate Dean and Professor at the TCU College of Education, has witnessed first-hand the impact of the Insight to Impact (I2I) Dashboards on teacher education preparation program evaluation and improvement.

Although Director of Accreditation, Certification and Assessment, Heather Doyle, works more directly with the I2I Dashboards as a TEA I2I Data Governance Committee (DGC) member, Dr. Savage has integrated the dashboards into her EPP’s evaluation and improvement process from the faculty perspective. Instead of pulling data from ECOS, open records, and other sources, the TCU dean appreciates the amount of helpful data consolidated in one spot.

While the dashboards have already been credited with helping EPPs inform strategic decisions to enhance teacher preparation and retention efforts through support analysis, Savage valued the effect the dashboard has on a faculty member’s mindset.

“Strategic planning and programmatic improvements can require a ‘big picture’ perspective, which the data helps provide,” Dr. Savage shared. “It’s important that the I2I dashboards are readily known and accessible by a variety of EPP stakeholders, to include certification officers as well as program coordinators, department chairs, and deans.”

With more than 60 percent of TCU’s candidates originating from out of state, the dashboards assist TCU with examining data across the field. I2I not only helps inform TCU’s understanding of the overall statewide EPP landscape but also helps paint a picture of their out-of-state candidates.

In addition to the work Dr. Savage has completed, Heather Doyle, Director of Accreditation, Certification and Assessment, has championed the I2I Dashboards in TCU Data Days and serves as a member of the I2I DGC. Doyle, along with other EPP staff on the DGC, supports the prioritization of enhancements and updates to the I2I Dashboards, ensuring they remain a useful tool to the EPP field.

EPPs with access can visit the dashboards today, while those in need of access can learn how here.
