I2I Observation Tool Statewide Launch in September
September 1 will mark the launch of the I2I Observation Tool, which is oriented toward TEA’s efforts to provide continuous improvement tools to Educator Preparation Programs (EPPs) across the state. The tool is designed to address observation collection difficulties and reduce the burden of analysis for users.
Design
- Data entered into the I2I Observation Interface feeds back to ECOS using the same data validation requirements
- Adaptable to multiple rubrics: T-TESS and other rubrics added by your EPP
- Includes multiple roles for variety of users, including Field Supervisors, Data Officers and Program Supervisors
Benefits
- No duplicate entry is needed
- Use of the tool is completely voluntary, but it provides a systemic collection mechanism for EPPs in need of one
- Available to a variety of users. This enables field supervisors to directly enter observations, which encourages entry as observations are completed rather than at the end of reporting
- The availability of dashboard visualizations promotes continuous improvement around observation data during the observation phase of preparation
Access
Access to the I2I Observation Tool is provided through TEAL. The new roles of Observation EPP Administrator or Observation Field Supervisor can be requested beginning on Thursday, August 27.

A week prior to launch, the I2I Academy website will be updated with video guidance via tutorials and a comprehensive user guide. EPP users are also encouraged to attend the official launch webinar on Thursday, August 27 at 3 p.m. As always, users can receive technical support via the TEA Helpdesk.

Completely optional, the Observation Tool provides a streamlined, digital interface for EPPs to record, track, and report clinical observations, as well as a data bridge between program-level fieldwork and state-level compliance records.
The primary objective of the Observation Tool is to bridge the gap between field-based assessments and state-level reporting. It allows Field Supervisors and EPP Administrators to capture real-time evidence of candidate performance using approved rubrics, such as T-TESS, while ensuring that all mandatory data points—including observation duration, settings, and conference dates—are validated against ECOS before final submission.
